She then completed a General Practice Residency in Dentistry as a Captain in the United States Air Force from Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia, in 1988. On an undergraduate level, she received her B.S. degree, Summa Cum Laude in Dental Hygiene in 1982 from Thomas Jefferson University and a Certificate in Dental Hygiene from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980.
