I customize food and nutrition recommendations to meet individual physiological and psychological needs, then work with my clients to implement their recommendations in a manner which acknowledges all of the external and internal factors shaping their relationship with food and eating behaviors.

I often aim to help my clients learn about food (cooking, preparation, planning, etc.) and nutrition (how the body interacts with the nutrients and other substances we consume) simultaneously, as I believe this leads to higher success rates and greater self-efficacy pertaining to personal nutrition. It is also always a high priority of my nutrition coaching to help my clients discover what healthy eating and good nutrition means for them specifically, so they may filter through the intimidating amounts of nutrition-related information we are now exposed to and identify what might be relevant to their unique situation and metabolism.

When relevant, I will assist my clients with analyzing their own decision-making processes pertaining to food by utilizing behavior modification techniques such as cognitive restructuring, stimulus control, chain-breaking, contingency management, and self-monitoring. I believe and continually remind my clients that it is important to approach eating behavior change and the development of new eating habits in general with a mindset of self-care and acceptance.

I earned both a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Sciences and a Master’s degree in Nutrition Science from Utah State University, where I was given the opportunity to complete an internship in several different clinical facilities in Utah to become a Registered Dietitian. I have also enjoyed providing nutrition and personal training services in the fitness industry for several years, and am also currently teaching general education nutrition courses for the College of Western Idaho. When I am not working, I am in the kitchen cooking, writing, reading inspiring books, or outside exploring the mountains with my husband.
