About us
Matthew R. Pollack, MD, received his medical degree and a master’s degree in physiology from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond. He completed his residency in family medicine at Trident Health System in Charleston and completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to his medical training, Dr. Pollack received his undergraduate degree in biology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Dr. Pollack serves as a team physician for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, as well as numerous other colleges and universities. He previously served as a primary care and sports medicine physician with Palmetto Primary Care Physicians in Charleston. He specializes in providing patients of all ages non-operative sports medicine care.
An expert in concussion management, Pollack is trained in using ImPACT computerized concussion evaluation software. He also is skilled in providing comprehensive orthopedic care using the latest in ultrasound technology. He is able to provide various in-office ultrasound guided joint and soft tissue injections as well as viscosupplementation injections for knee arthritis.
Pollack is experienced in regenerative medicine including Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell injections. He currently serves as a clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, is directly involved in the sports medicine fellowship program and provides training for new sports medicine physicians.
