About us
Dr. Matthew Smeds is a vascular surgeon specializing in carotid artery disease, aneurysmal disease, and peripheral arterial disease. His clinical interests include dialysis access, arterial dissection, mesenteric ischemia, tobacco cessation, deep vein thrombosis management, and varicose vein management.
He is trained in endovascular therapy for both peripheral arterial disease and aneurysmal disease, providing a minimally invasive approach.
Dr. Smeds is interested in research into smoking cessation and risk factor modification in vascular disease, and outcomes research in vascular surgery.
He is an associate professor and chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
