Metabolic Research Center in Bellevue is a money machine. I am currntly a client (into the second week) and I am beginning to have my doubts about their program's cost.

As far as the money part, I had to come up with almost $500.00 to start the program. One week later I discover we have to buy their products at a clip of $99.00 a week. My bill today was $141.00 because they sold me Two vitamin items (which were a thirty day supply of each)that they had sold me just the week before when I started. I will have a conversation with them tomorrow about this situation (selling me the vitamins that I didn't need yet) and the potential cost of their program.

That cost looks as if it might cost me more than $2000.00 if I stay for the 17 weeks they have prescribed for me. Of course they carefully failed to mention this weekly cost before I started.

So, I would tell you look out if you are thinking about using Metabelic Research as a weight loss program. It is very expensive and they have you sign a contract that locks you into the program (I'm not sure what the penalty might be if one just quits).

In one week's time I lost 11.5 pounds and apparantly that is too fast because in the class I attended today they kept emphasizing losing 3 to 5 pounds per week. Of course at that 11.5 pounds of weight loss in the 17 weeks of my program I'd be looking at losing more than 195 pounds. I weighed 259 when I stsrted.

A lady I met there this morning told me she had lost 9.5 pounds in that first week and after the class we attended she and I were taken into a seperate conference room to get our menus. Besides the three meals per day on the program we were told that we were required to eat a snack (that was eqivalent to a 4th meal)every day. My guess is that that meal and snack stucture is designed to greatly slow our weight loss.

I am in no way saying their program is not a good one because, clearly, there are many people who have had weight loss success.

My complaint is the lack of complete information about the cost. In closing I'll just say look out beacuse the cost is extremely high and they don't begin to explain that to you as you sign up for the program.

A client who is somewhat dissollusioned.
