Why Replace it?
Flex piping is actually the worst thing you can do for a dryer vent line. It actually helps the lint accumulate faster than normal straight pipe and traps the lint in the line causing a backup or clogging to the dryer vent line. If the line gets backed up, some dryers will turn off from the heat or if it is an older model and it gets backed up there’s a chance it can start a fire. Lint is extremely flammable and ignites fast.

How Often should you have it cleaned?
Well that is a great question & there’s a lot of variable’s. Family size, How often you use your dryer, the last time its been cleaned, how long is the run, is there flex pipe installed are just some of the reasons why you want to have it cleaned out at least every two years. Some situations are different and depend on how its set up.
