Nasim A. Chowdhury, MD, FAAPMR, is a physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) physician or "physiatrist" at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens and the Chief of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. At Weill Cornell Medicine, he staffed the inpatient rehabilitation unit, served as the Medical Director of Cancer Rehabilitation, and was an assistant professor of clinical rehabilitation medicine. Dr. Chowdhury provides a wide array of care to patients with musculoskeletal issues, including spinal cord and brain injury, sports injuries, arthritis, stroke, and spasticity. He has a particular focus on rehabilitation of cancer patients and provides care using cutting-edge technology including high-resolution ultrasound for highly targeted treatments. Active in research, Dr. Chowdhury has presented at national and international conferences and serves as a grant reviewer for the Singaporean Ministry of Health and a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AJPMR). Having contributed pro bono medical work, Dr. Chowdhury serves as a research mentor for residents at Columbia and Weill Cornell and helped start a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment clinic in Sub Saharan Africa. With a multifactorial patient approach, Dr. Chowdhury utilizes traditional therapies such as medications and non-operative procedures, and with certification as a nutritional therapist, entails lifestyle modifications including dietary recommendations, specific exercise regimens, and supplement use. He practices medicine that is patient-centric, focusing on safe, well-researched treatments that are customized for each patient that is safe, well researched and individually tailored. After graduating from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. Chowdhury completed his internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital Elmhurst Services. He served a three-year residency at the University Hospitals of Columbia and Cornell. Dr. Chowdhury has been honored as Super Doctors New York Rising Star, which represents the top New York doctors in more than 30 specialties.
