10 or 11 years ago, we took my autistic daughter to NEADS to talk about a service dog for her. The organization said that our daughter was the first person with autism to come to them, and they agreed to find and train a dog for her. We were thrilled. Then, over the next 2 years, we heard nothing. We called a few times and were told, We haven't found the right dog yet, and then, We think we found the right dog so we'll be starting the training process. Two years! Then I read one of the many autism newsletters I received regularly. In it was a story about two autistic brothers for whom NEADS provided service dogs! I immediately wrote a letter to the organization about this. No one even had the courtesy to acknowledge or respond to my letter, much less apologize for blowing us off or attempt to make things right. We never heard from them again. I'm disgusted with this organization. DO NOT go to these people for your service dog! Find an organization with integrity that can be trusted, because this one certainly can't.
