Recently went to the New City Diner for dinner. Although this restaurant seems to change names every few years, the food and service remain unchanged. The food and service continues to be poor. The wait staff barely speaks English, and they are very unfamiliar with the menu. We had to point to the menu so they could understand what we were ordering. There were only a few other tables being occupied during this Saturday dinner hour. Our first sign that something was amiss. The food is overpriced, the portions are very small, and the $15.95 complete dinner specials charge extra for beverages / coffee and dessert. The only thing that made this a complete dinner was they served bread and butter with the meal. The side vegetables were served as waterlogged slop. The waiters also need to be re-trained. After placing your order and having the meal dropped off at your table, you never see the waiters again until they appear at the end of the meal with the bill. They all sat at one end of the counter talking amongst themselves, oblivious to their customers. Hopefully, after New City Diner changes their name again, the food and service will also change for the better.
