Northern Energy was a great, local propane provider in Nederland CO. Then they were taken over by AMERIGAS sometime in the past year, and the customer service since then has been atrocious. When you call for a propane delivery, you get a voice mail. They rarely call you back. On your 5th or 6th call back to them, you decide to press the number for an 'emergency', and get to talk to a real person. In California. Somewhere near the Pacific Ocean. We live in the Front Range of Colorado, on the other side of the Continental Divide. They don't have a clue about you or your account. Be prepared to explain who you are, where you live, what your zip code is, etc, many, many times.

Most recently, they failed to deliver our on-call delivery request during the business week, and the charge for them to make it up to us is $230 for a Saturday delivery, on top of their already jacked-through-the-roof winter propane prices.

This is the worst customer service and gouging we have ever experienced. In any line of business. But its our fault, as they have an AMERIGAS corporate policy of giving themselves 7-10 days to get back to you on a propane request, even if you've been a customer for one a half decades and its -20F and your home heating is chewing through your propane faster than it takes them to call you back.

Needless to say they are toast and we have gone to another local provider that isn't dinosauring themselves out of business in Colorado. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
