Sandwich Opera House

About us

The Sandwich Opera House was built in 1878, and forms the second floor of the Sandwich City Hall. This Second Empire construction features a mix of revival architectural styles, breaking free of the usual norm dictating adherence to just one. Soon after its construction, the opera house soon came to be the center of the town's cultural world with an eclectic program of events. From cabaret and vaudeville, to Shakespearean theater and classical concerts, the opera house offered a myriad of delights. In 1979 the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Opera House of Sandwich was revived soon after. Today, the venue continues to host a variety of cultural events, with a little something to suit every taste. The dinner and show packages are especially popular and a true delight.
