My boys ages 6 and 8 love going to the dojo to work with their Sensei on improving their moves on the mat. That is the best testament to how great this place really is. The skills they learn in class go beyond the mat and address challenges they may face out in the world. Its a very nurturing environment. Great new spacious location with plenty of parking.

Since our son began taking classes at Popkin-Brogna Jujitsu he has become more focused at both school and has his practicing what he has learned. He has more self-control as he is learning how to have a better sense of himself. I am thrilled with the growth in him and know he will continue to thrive as he takes classes and moves up the ranks. We feel like we are part of a big family.

Sensei Joe and Howie are amazing ... They’re not only excellent martial artists but great people too. They are great with kids and adults. If you want to learn real martial arts from two real gentlemen ... look no further. They make it really fun ... They take what they do seriously ... but don't take themselves too seriously.

Mr. Popkin, Mr. Brogna, and their AMAZING team really understand what it takes to run a successful and powerful martial school! Clean, professional, life changing, and super fun! I highly recommend this school if you're interested in learning from the best of the best!

Popkin Brogna self defense is the place to be for martial arts instruction. Howard and Joe are top notch instructors with a wealth of knowledge, experience, humor, patience and skill. And both offer such complimentary, yet different teaching styles. I travel from North Carolina to train with them, as well as invite each of them to NC to offer their expertise to our school and students. Whether you are a beginner or a teacher, you should be training with Popkin-Brogna. If I had children, I would enroll them all in an instant!

Phenomenal: I'd give 10 stars if possible!

Without a doubt, serious martial arts! Senseis Popkin and Brogna are the real deal, they have extensive traditional martial arts training rooted in true Japanese tradition( mainly Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu, and many others). Their teaching is outstanding( funny and playful, even) in how they can distill the fundamentals of a technique for even a beginner and continually add nuance where needed . The kind of Jujutsu that's taught is both for the self-defense seeker, and for those interested in having fun learning about their own body mechanics. It's a rare privilege when I get to train with these gentlemen!
