My wife and I decided to open our home to a pair of rescue dogs. Working with a local rescue organization we adopted the two Golden's over a few months. After adding the second dog we almost immediately started to see issues with the second dog. Things ranging from guarding of food and toys to aggression. Not knowing his history we tried to see if it would get better as time went on. It didn’t, on a visit to out trusted vet he was able to see some of his issues. He gave us a list of local trainers with one name hi-lighted, Quality Canines.

Shortly there after we were at a crossroad. It was either give this guy back to the rescue or try the training. We figured that giving him back had the very real possibility of it not being a happy ending. The training route was selected and Kim was contacted. Lessons were setup and quickly started. We were hopeful but skeptical that we were going to see the results we had hoped for.

After a couple lessons there was one think we knew for sure. We had selected the right dog trainer. Our dog was very defiant but Kim wasn’t phased. She quickly felt out his issues and developed a plan for conquering them. By the time we had hit the half way point of the eight weeks we were seeing real improvement. Not only was he getting better but he started to actually enjoy the lessons. Not only was Kim teaching our dog, she was training us on how to manage him and his issues.

On completion of the program he’s a different dog. No more guarding problems and is now a well behaved young guy. He still needs some work but the concern of having to give him up is long gone. It’s going to be a long process going forward but Kim continues to help. On their daily morning walk we always come across other people who frequently comment on how well behaved these two guys are. With continued attendance at the dog parties and some more time with Kim’s help he is going to be declared a complete success. There are already many situations where he is now the good dog of our two boys. I’d have never thought that possible before Kim.

Quality Canines By Kim in Crystal Lake is outstanding. Our family has a total of five dachshunds (very difficult dogs to train) ranging in ages 17-4. Kim has lovingly and effectively worked with our entire family to teach us what the dogs behavior means and how to work with the dogs. She is patient, knowledgeable and relentless! She never fails to answer a question or call back with extra help to guide us while we are working with our dogs on our own. I just can't say enough about Kim. I have recommended her to many friends and they have all been extremely satisfied with her services. Training Methods: Our training methods are based on praise and motivation. There won’t be any hitting, yelling, or hanging your dog. “If the tail isn’t wagging, your dog isn’t learning.” A lot of kisses and hugs go into our training to keep up your dog’s confidence and self esteem.

Do You Offer Group Classes? No. Grouping dogs together in a class situation can be very confusing for your dog and frustrating for you, as owners. Every dog, regardless of breed, has a unique personality that requires individual attention and training by a certified, qualified individual. This will also give you the opportunity to train at your own pace without feeling rushed or left behind. Don’t worry. You won’t be missing out on socialization or distractions. They are a large part of the training. Your dog will feel confident and will respond in all types of situations, once the training is completed.

Behavioral Problems: Is your dog chewing, jumping ,play biting, digging or having other annoying behavioral problems? Don’t worry! No matter how large or small, all behavioral problems are covered in each training package.

Special Needs: If there are any special commands you would like your dog to learn, such as automatically sitting at streets, show commands, or even retrieving a can of pop from the refrigerator, just let us know and we will do it. I can customize and create commands to fit any unique situation or need.
