Raghukumar D Thirumala, MD

Dr. Thirumala is director of the respiratory/pulmonary function lab and bronchoscopy at AHN West Penn Hospital. He helps patients manage COPD and treats pulmonary nodules, sarcoidosis, and lung cancer. He is experienced in administering navigational bronchoscopy, EBUS, PleurX catheter placement, and critical care echocardiogram. Among his clinical interests are advanced bronchoscopy, pulmonary nodules, and critical care ultrasound. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care, and Critical Care Echocardiography.

Dr. Thirumala received his medical degree from Madras Medical College in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed a residency at the Wayne State University Health Center in Detroit, Michigan. He furthered his training with a fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Lenox Hill Hospital, both in New York City. He speaks English and Telugu.
