About us

Ratna Pallapothu, MD, is board certified in general surgery and fellowship trained in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. Dr. Pallapothu has several years of experience and is a clinical assistant professor of Surgery at University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia and medical director of Prisma Health Hernia Center in the Midlands.

He has a special interest in complex hernia surgery with abdominal wall reconstruction and is one of the few in South Carolina to offer surgical options for stomach disorders such as gastroparesis. Other interests are cancer, foregut and reflux, colon, adrenal gland and spleen surgery, along with upper endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures.

Dr. Pallapothu treats patients with the goal to get them healthy so that they can achieve their personal goals. He believes strongly in providing a program of safe and high-quality care to patients.

In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
