About us

Robert J. Spinner, M.D., is board certified in both neurosurgery and orthopedics. He is a peripheral nerve neurosurgeon and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic’s Rochester, Minnesota campus. His clinical focus includes nerve entrapments, peripheral nerve tumors (benign and malignant), injuries (including brachial plexus injuries), and neuropathic pain. He is an expert in brachial plexus surgery and peripheral nerve tumor surgery.

In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Spinner is active in clinical and basic science (nerve regeneration). He mentors clinical and research fellows and publishes in high-impact journals. Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, ranks among the Best Hospitals for Neurology and Neurosurgery in the U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” rankings.
