Offering tender loving veterinary care to the local community since 1950, Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital remodeled and opened a new state-of-the-art facility in March of 2008. The new Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital, Resort, & Spa is like nothing else found in the Baltimore-Washington area. It is one of the most advanced animal care facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region. 'I'm excited to be able to offer the most cutting edge services to our current and new patients and guests with the advances we have made in both technology and space,' says Hospital Director and Owner, Dr. Steven Wolchinsky. This challenging project is a long time dream of his, which strives to integrate the old fashioned Veterinary practice of yesterday into a progressive, technologically advanced Hospital, Resort, and Spa. 'My mission is to merge that time-honored past with a promising new future. We offer only the best for our Hospital patients, our Resort patrons, and their owners.' Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital, Resort, & Spa successfully combine the latest comforts and high-tech capabilities in a handsome western lodge setting. The building has a stunning stone face front framed by a dramatic teal aluminum rooftop. The outside of the Hospital and Resort is graced with a waterfall feature offering ambiance and the soothing sounds of cascading water. The wrap around front porch of the Hospital is very welcoming with comfortable rocking chairs, family style benches, piped in music, and even a waving, smiling veterinary bear carved out of wood. The main level of the Veterinary Hospital, which is entered at street level, is devoted to animal health and client comfort. The rustic yet dramatic two story waiting area adorned with oak wood ceilings, stone colored tile floors, and earth-toned wall treatments is sure to make both pets and their owner's extremely comfortable, while waiting for services. Family style benches padded with festive William Wegman patterned cushions line the front edge of the lobby, which can ensure you will find a seat in our facility. There are large LCD video screens posted throughout the lobby and a segregated fully furnished children's play room. The children's play area can be viewed via LCD monitors from the consultation and examination rooms so that parents can focus on their pet's exam and also watch their children. Multimedia presentations will be on display for the clients of Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital, to educate them on medical conditions, the latest procedures and many other issues affecting the health of their pets. Humans will also enjoy lavish comforts during their visits. The reception area contains wireless internet access and there is a complimentary coffee and cocoa bar for Hospital guests. Because we realize that your time is as valuable as ours, we have created separate check-in and check-out areas specialists trained to handle the pharmacy, food purchases, boarding, grooming and doggy daycare in order to efficiently serve you. We respect your time and want to reduce wait time as much as possible. Our 18,000 square-foot Veterinary Hospital contains nine consultation and examination rooms. These rooms are fully equipped for veterinary services and have large LCD monitors to allow access to our veterinary practice management software system. same monitors will be used to play educational programs and videos designed to visually explain medical conditions or any procedure that your pet may require. The Hospital features two state of the art surgical suites, a dental suite with two tables and digital dental radiography, ICU or intensive care units-equipped for oxygen and heat therapy, two wet top tables and two dry top tables for patient treatment stations, and a full service laboratory and centralized pharmacy facility. Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital has a full range of diagnostic tools that include digital radiography, ultrasound, and a CT scanner, which will allows our Healthcare Team to diagnose diseases quickly and with less invasive procedures. The Hospital is equipped with digital cameras and digital blue tooth monitoring. These allow our Healthcare Team to monitor surgical and ICU patients from other parts of the Hospital and even off the premises. We have designed the Hospital to be able to provide 24 hour nursing care. the future, you will not need to move your pet to an emergency facility unless they require the care of a specialist. Nearly everything in the new hospital is digital allowing us to eliminate toxic x-ray chemicals,as well as,enabling us to electronically send your pet's tests results and x-rays to specialists or new hospitals if you move out of the area. Our records are backed up and stored off-site every day so there is little chance of loss or destruction of records. The Hospital rigorously participates in recycling and does what it can to eliminate our impact on the environment. Security and safety is a concern today more than ever and our technology addresses those concerns, as it monitors everything that occurs in or outside our hospital. This security system safeguards you, your pet and our Hospital and Resort Team. Every client has a digital record for their pets that they can access on the Internet 24 hours a day via a password protected Pet Portal. Our Pet Portal service is created and maintained by a company called VetStreet and is secure, password protected, and free for your viewing anytime. Pet Portals are a great way to participate in your pet's healthcare, stay up to date on your pet's health needs and to help you plan when to schedule pet healthcare appointments around your busy schedule. The entire Team of Rocky Gorge views the technological advances as ways to better care for pets and become more accessible to their owners.
