The Legacy of Giant Rock For 25 years, Giant Rock Airport was operated by George Van Tassel under a federal lease. Upon the conclusion of his tenure, Mr. Van Tassel legally transferred all aviation-related records, documentation, and his extensive historical archive to me. As the sole owner of the Copyrights for all of Mr. Van Tassel’s materials, I am the steward of a unique historical repository that chronicles: • Aviation History: Decades of flight logs, airport operations, and desert navigation. • The UFO Conventions: Primary documentation of the Giant Rock Interplanetary Spacecraft Conventions (1954–1978). • Regional Growth: A detailed record of the development and evolution of the Landers and High Desert areas.
