Dr. Smith is from Annapolis, Maryland, and earned her bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. She completed her master's degree in health science reproductive and cancer biology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, and then earned her medical degree at SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, New York.
