About us
Shannon Lamb, M.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. She practices at Sibley Memorial Hospital and Johns Hopkins Medicine, Arlington. Her areas of clinical expertise include gynecology and obstetrics, urogynecology, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, recurrent urinary tract infections, and related disorders.
Dr. Lamb received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and her doctorate in medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, followed by a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (urogynecology) at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
She has extensive professional experience, including roles as a clerkship coordinator, residency faculty member, fellowship faculty member, and mentor. Dr. Lamb most recently served as the chief medical officer for the Defense Health Agency National Capital Region Network while simultaneously working as a staff urogynecologist at the Walter Reed Medical Center. She is also an accomplished lecturer and educator.
Beyond urogynecology, Dr. Lamb’s clinical interests include women’s sexual health and transgender health. At the Defense Health Agency National Capital Region, she focused heavily on systems innovation, streamlining processes, standardizing best practices and safety. Her areas of research have included maternal morbidity among women in the U.S. military, urogynecology, and cesarean delivery and the safety and efficacy of specific urogynecology techniques.
