About us

Dr. David I. Silbert, M.D., F.A.A.P. graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut in 1984. He completed his medical training at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio in 1989, with an area of concentration in clinical decision analysis.

Dr. Silbert completed an internship in internal medicine at the Washington Hospital Center in 1990, and an ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University Hospital, Center for Sight, Washington, DC in 1993. This was followed by a fellowship in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at Wills Eye Hospital in 1994, and a second fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Holy Redeemer Hospital and Wills Eye Hospital, finished in 1995.

Dr. Silbert specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric and adult strabismus, amblyopia, congenital cataracts, nasolacrimal obstruction and other pediatric eye diseases. He also specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, as well as orbital surgery and has extensive experience using a laser for blepharoplasty and the removal of wrinkles.

Dr. Silbert has been involved as an investigator for the Balloon Catheter Technique to improve tearing. He has also been an investigator for the Amblyopia Treatment Studies, national studies looking at lazy eye. He has been invited to lecture on “The Use of the Photoscreener to Detect Amblyopia” at national meetings. Dr. Silbert is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a full member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). He has also been elected a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. With his full membership in the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) and fellowship in the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Silbert became the first pediatric ophthalmologist in Lancaster County to offer such high credentials in the care of his young patients.
