Sonia Language School

My name is Sonia Harris. I am originally from Brazil and have been living in the United States for 18 years. I am proud of my Brazilian birthplace and want to help people learn Portuguese and visit Brazil to see our beautiful country.

I graduated from English as a Second Language courses and can relate well with language students and better understand their needs.

I teach conversational English to Portuguese speakers and Portuguese to English speakers. I provide relocation assistance to Brazilians (housing, shopping). I translate English to Portuguese and Portuguese to English. I assist exchange students and assist Americans with information about Brazilian culture. I have an Advanced Certificate in Teaching Languages from The Canadian Institute of English.

My method to teach is 50% listening and 50% speaking. The students should do exercises to be active and interested in the lessons. “Say It Again” – repetition is a great way to get new words to stick in your brain.
