Hi Guys

I had a really bad experience today - very disturbing. As you guys live in the neighborhood, I thought I would share this incident with you, and hopefully u all will support me, and if you buy your groceries from Spiceland on Cambridge street in Burlington, you will not go there again.

I had gone to Spiceland last weekend to buy a skillet (tava) to make rotis. At that time, there was a young woman behind the counter, who sold me the same for $9.99. I thought it was expensive, and she said that they have another small one for $5.99, which was a non stick. I was not sure, so I asked if I did not use the product could return it. She assured me that it was fine, as long as I had my receipt. Today at around 2 pm I went to Spiceland with the tava, which was still in the plastic bag, and the sticker was on - so exactly the same condition that I had bought it in, and my receipt. Today there were two young guys behind the counter. The taller one asked me what was the problem, and I told him that I was not sure about the quality as it is already rusting. The minute I told him that I wanted to return the skillet, he got very upset. Then he looked at the receipt and said that I had the wrong receipt. I looked at it, and said, no it is the right receipt, and the top item of 9.99 is the skillet. He told me that they don't sell that skillet for 9.99 but for $3.99 or $2.99 (even he was not sure for how much they sold it for) and that I was lying. I told him why I would lie, and come all the way from Brighton to return the skillet. He cursed me, and said Get the f... out of my store, and he took the tava and threw it outside the store! I was in a total state of shock - who treats customers like that? I am still in a state of shock. Other things that came out of this incidence:
- The store was busy and no one said anything. Men were just standing around and enjoying the show, of this guy talking to someone like this.
- I looked at the receipt and realized that everything on the receipet was grocery - they were not itemized. Which means that there is no way to protect us.
- Most of the items in the store are not marked. Which means that differnet people can charge different prices from customers, and there is no holding them responsible.

I am really shocked and hurt. I am looking at filing a complaint with Mass. department of standards and measurement. I really hope that you will support me in my fight. Why should we be allowed to be treated like this. If someone has a store, they need to be respectful, and also held accountable for their actions.

Comments welcomed. I have so much anger right now, that I am finding it so difficult to express.

In case you are wondering how the whole thing ended, I took the skillet and left it on his counter, and walked out shaking.
