About us

Tamara Saunders, MD, FACS, is a board-certified breast surgeon and associate professor of surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, and Association of Women Surgeons.
Saunders earned her medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine in San Antonio and completed her surgical internship and residency at McGovern Medical School.
Saunders treats patients with breast cancer and high-risk breast abnormalities, performs risk reduction surgeries for genetic mutations, and treats benign breast diseases as well. Her care philosophy focuses on educating her patients on their condition so they can be actively involved in decisions about their treatments. She develops personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s unique condition and believes in open communication and striving for excellent outcomes.
In her free time, Saunders enjoys traveling, running, skiing, and spending time with her family and four children.
