Tenrikyo North Honolulu Church
About us
Tenrikyo is a religion founded in 19th century Japan, when Miki Nakayama, became the Shrine of God. As the Shine of God, she is known as Oyasama.a Through Oyasama, God revealed that It is the God of Origin, the God in Truth, and, that It created humans, as our Parent, through tremendous effort. The reason God made such effort was to create a relationship between It and humans that would bring joy to both. The concept of a “Joyous Life” is at the heart of Tenrikyo, a faith dedicated to fostering connection, community, and personal fulfillment. Our teachings emphasize the importance of mutual support and guiding one another toward achieving this harmonious state of being. Tenrikyo, with its message of hope and joy resonates with many and has spread beyond Japan. It has established followings in communities around the world. Tenrikyo churches and centers serve as places of worship, spiritual practice, and community activities for its members, fostering a sense of fellowship and belonging among followers. Overall, Tenrikyo promotes a message of universal love, harmony, and spiritual awakening, seeking to bring joy and fulfillment to the lives of not just its members, but also to society as a whole.
