The course challenged competitors to run and crawl through muddy trenches, climb over walls and other obstacles and hurdle objects. They maneuvered through tires, jumped over fire pits and balanced on ropes.
For many participants, it was their first time doing those types of obstacles.
Jennifer Logan, of Marthasville, had heard about the event but didn’t decide to sign up until three days prior after her son Taylor offered to sponsor a team.
She scrambled to find three other team members and on Saturday joined forces with Vicki Smith, Michelle Miller and Dave Wilmsmeyer as a part of Taylor’s Beauties and the Beast.
An avid runner, Logan had never done a race of this magnitude.
“It was phenomenal,” said Logan. “It was everything I thought it would be and more.”
While some of the obstacles were more difficult than others, Logan says wasn’t a single task she couldn’t overcome.
