The Dischinger Team Orthodontics
About us
The Dischinger Team prides themselves on providing the latest and most up-to-date treatment for our patients. In order to do so, Dr. Bill maintains membership with a number of dental and orthodontic professional associations that enable him to actively participate in continuing education and remain current on advances in orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Bill lectures in the United States and around the world. He lectures on a variety of topics, many related to advanced treatments in orthodontics. Over the past five years alone, he has lectured on 5 continents and over 15 countries. He is honored to be considered an expert in the field of orthodontics by his peers. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry Department of Orthodontics in San Francisco, CA.
Dr. Bill loves orthodontics and loves taking care of all of our wonderful patients and families. Most days he tells his staff or patients, “You know, I love what I do for my job. We just have fun every day here!”
The Damon System is available in both metal and clear brackets. With Damon Clear, people may not even realize you're wearing braces.
Unlike other clear braces with visible metal parts or elastic ties that can yellow during treatment, Damon Clear braces are virtually invisible. Damon Clear braces are resistant to staining and do not use elastic ties, providing a superior aesthetic solution for patients.
Unlike conventional braces, the Damon System uses gentle forces designed to protect the health of your teeth and gums while in treatment. The Damon System achieves a smile that is more than straight teeth—it provides a beautiful, natural smile.
Studies have shown that a fuller smile, with a wider arch, is more attractive.¹ Having the teeth upright and aligned into a smile “arc” can also add to a smile’s appeal.
We call this a Damon Smile.
Most people get braces to increase their self-confidence through a beautiful smile. At the same time, our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible during your treatment.
HOW ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT WORKS
In general, orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. Depending on your treatment plan, these appliances are either removable or bonded directly to your teeth. Then, by placing a constant, gentle force in a precise direction, we are able to move your teeth to the corrected position.
Orthodontic technology has improved enormously over the last two decades. We no longer place metal bands around each tooth. Today we are able to shorten treatment times, use clear appliances, and develop custom treatment plans based on the latest imaging technology. All these advents increase your comfort and decrease your treatment time.
DURATION OF TREATMENT
Depending on the age of the patient, growth of the patient’s mouth and severity of the problem, treatment times can range from one to three years. Every patient is different, so each treatment will be customized to your particular needs and, as a result, treatment times can vary from patient to patient. Patients can achieve the shortest treatment times by following the prescribed treatment plan and using rubber bands as recommended by the doctor. Interceptive, or early treatment procedures, may take as few as six months.
