I had a horrible experience at the Hygiene Center. My first visit they told me my old dentist missed a lot and then proceeded to convince me that I needed extensive dental work, starting with some fillings. I've never had a reason not to question a medical professional (until now!) so I went through with it, spent $850, and got a few fillings they insisted I needed filled. (The dentist sang in my ear the entire procedure, very odd experience). Two weeks later I still couldn't eat on that side. So I went back for an adjustment. Didn't work. Two weeks later I went in again for it to be refilled. Apparently my first dentist was fired. New one was very young, but I thought he must be good! So he refilled it. Two weeks later it wasn't right. Went back in for him to adjust it. Didn't work. I called a different dentist. At this point I was pregnant and couldn't get any xrays, but I still went in to get a second opinion. Just sticking his utensils in my mouth, pieces of filling came off!! Apparently the young guy, new dentist replacing my first one there, didn't let it dry all the way and pieces of filling had fallen off. I had to get it refilled. He explained to me that the chances of it going well on the third try were not great and that there was a strong possibility that some nerve damage had been done from redoing the same spot so many times (at this point I hadn't chewed on the left side in 6 months)

Now that I'm no longer pregnant, I went back to get the xray last week and discovered that the first dentist hit a nerve in the tooth when he did the filling, now causing me to need a root canal!!! And not only did he not realize the pain I was experiencing was related to that, the newbee that came after him didn't either.

So now I am out financially the $850 for them to screw up my teeth (that my new and FABULOUS dentist wouldn't have recommended I fill because it was such a small cavity it wasn't big enough to cause any problems in the first place. My guess is they are a new business and are trying to get some money coming in the door). I'm out the money I ended up paying a professional to do their job correctly, and now the large expense of a root canal and a crown.

Thanks for the $2,000 bill, Hygiene Center, I now drive 35 minutes to a professional versus the 2 minute convenience I used to enjoy. I'll take quality of convenience any time!
