My first impression of Timeout was very good. The wifi did not work, but with a word at the bar it was up and running within 5 minutes.

I guess even the internets need a timeout too. That was 5 weeks ago. With a cappuccino and solid menu mostly under 10$, free wifi, a dart board, a pool table, and alcohol quality Ales and wines my impression is still that I’ve found a place to take a time out, any time of day. Soon they will join the city’s nightlife, the hookah’s are already in play, but for now this young Tavern the ”local” to the buildings Converse International School of language students, city dwellers, and traveling salesman types.

Five televisions run sport all day, and the big screen is drawn for Direct TV’s Sunday football games. “We want folks to feel like it’s their local,” says co-owner Yuda Piha. It seems to be shaping up that way. Piha is pretty excited about the business, but laments that with the liquor license comes a six-month moratorium on live music. Pity, but there is a digital jukebox on the wall.

The menu’s is classic American Diner with espresso and smoothie bars. I won’t call this gourmet dining, but the French Dip, Pastrami, Ruben, Club, Tuna, Roast beef and other sandwiches area staple and standard deal at $6.95 a plate. Two sides included. Prices only go down from there. Meaty lasagna is priced at $5.95, and the Chicken Noodle soup bowl at $3.95. Chips and salsa are complimentary. Party plates are available, delivery within the downtown area only.

My last impression of Timeout Sports Restaurant and Tavern is good, so for now it’s the day time local for a community reporter too.
