We offer 3 different types of services:
LEARNING LEAGUE -
- series of "how to" courses designed to teach and reinforce the specific skills and strategies that are crucial for learning
- course examples: reading comprehension strategies, test prep/test taking strategies, how to use Google as a tool for learning, active listening skills, etc.
- courses are held in an online learning environment/virtual classroom
- ideally meant for students in grades 4th-college, would consider younger students with a smaller teacher/student ratio
- classroom is fully audio and video supported, offers a wide array of tools designed for online instruction
- students are sent an automated email with a link to join the class, no special hardware (other than computer/tablet) is req.
- small-group setting: one to six students (max.) to one coach ratio
- may be a variety of different age students enrolled in the courses, instruction and learning activities will be modified as needed to meet the age/needs of each learner
- each course is approx. 45-55 minutes
- courses offered at various dates and times, driven by time of year & school calendar
- pricing is per course; still deciding on amt. per student
- discounted pricing offered for enrollment in multiple courses and/or enrollment of siblings
INDIVIDUALIZED ACADEMIC COACHING -
- the closest service U Achieve offers to "traditional tutoring"
- offer an interest inventory and learning styles analysis upon enrollment to help identify "how" the student best learns and what sorts of topics motivate/engage them in learning
- sessions can be in-person or online
- coaches students in specific areas they are struggling with in school
- specialize in reading (both beginning readers and older readers who are struggling), study skills, social studies, and science
- like to meet in-person at the school with the student's teacher(s)
- ideal, either in-person or online, for younger students (grade 3 and below)
- offer family discounts for multiple siblings enrolled
- in-person coaching sessions held at my home; will consider traveling to client's
HOMEWORK HUDDLE -
- offer homework support to individual clients either in-person or online (preferred)
- 50 min./session
- limited size, ideally 2-3 students students in a "huddle" offered online
- would use same online classroom software for homework huddle as learning league
