About Dr. Kahn

With a deep desire to make a positive impact on people's lives, Yosef A. Kahn, MD, embraced a career in medicine, which he finds to be extremely gratifying. “The ability to alleviate suffering, improve health, and potentially save lives is an incredibly powerful motivator,” he says. Dr. Kahn adds that he was also inspired by observing his father, a physician, in his work with patients and the positive effect he had on others.

In addition to his father’s work, Dr. Kahn’s mother is a podiatrist and many of his eight siblings are also involved in health care. “They demonstrated a tremendous love for what they did, which inspired many of us also to go into healthcare,” he says.

Dr. Kahn earned his Bachelor of Science, Biology, from University of Maryland (College Park, MD) and his Doctor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College (Philadelphia, PA). Post-graduate training included: Resident in Internal Medicine, Lenox Hill Hospital (New York, NY); Fellow in Cardiovascular Diseases, Banner University Medical Center (Phoenix, AZ), University of Arizona College of Medicine—Phoenix; First Year Fellow in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Lahey Clinic (Burlington, MA), Tufts University School of Medicine; and Second Year Fellow in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center (Boston, MA), Tufts University School of Medicine.

In a constantly evolving field, Dr. Kahn continually delves into all the sciences—especially biology, anatomy, and physiology. He chose the field of cardiac electrophysiology, which is the study of the electrical system that controls the heart's rhythm, due to a fascination with how the heart works and because of the impact it has on a person’s overall health. “The heart is so central to life, and being able to help people with their heart rhythm issues can be incredibly rewarding,” he says.

“Ultimately, I aim to empower my patients to take charge of their health while providing them with the knowledge, support, and treatments they need to live their best lives. It’s not just about fixing problems—it’s about helping people thrive,” he says.

As a provider, Dr. Kahn hopes that those he cares for understand how much he cares about their well-being and that he is dedicated to finding the best path for them as he looks at the bigger picture. Dr. Kahn delivers both good and difficult news with transparency and honesty, valuing each relationship and the opportunity to partner with each person on their health journey.

In his own words…

Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My grandfather

What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? I used to work in the computer lab as an assistant and really enjoyed helping others with their computer needs.

What is your favorite food? Movie? Favorite foods: Pizza Favorite movie: Last of the Mohicans

What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up? Best was math; Worst was Spanish

If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why?If I could sit down to dinner with anyone, I think I’d choose Mahatma Gandhi. His life was so deeply intertwined with ideas of compassion, non-violence, and social justice, and I’ve always been fascinated by how he approached conflict resolution—not just on a political level, but in his personal philosophy of life.

In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? Outdoor activities, Brazilian jiu-jitsu (although still a white belt), and magic

What is something most people don’t know about you? My name was originally Joseph but my parents later changed it to Yosef.
